Lacy catches Tsypko with a left hook in the early rounds of their clash.

Lacy back with win!
December 2, 2006

In his first fight since the defeat against Joe Calzaghe, Jeff Lacy edged out a points verdict over Vitaly Tsypko on Saturday night.

He looked set for a comfortable win in the opening two rounds, with Tyspko suffering a cut above his left eye.

However as the fight progressed, the Ukranian became a growing threat against a fading Lacy.

Lacy was rocked by a combination in the eighth but recovered quickly and landed enough blows of his own to earn a 96-94 verdict from two judges. The other deemed the fight a 95-95 draw.

Lacy blamed a shoulder injury he sustained in the second round for his display.
